Chilly’s Bottles doubles down in the battle against single

The upheaval caused by the pandemic changed many people's daily habits. Carrying a reusable water bottle, coffee cup or food container with you to work was one. The BBC's Blue Planet documentary, broadcast in 2017, nudged everyone to consume less plastic.

To help to make it happen, businesses such as coffee shops started offering discounts for customers using reusables. By 2019 about 15,000 businesses had signed up to offer refill stations for water at their premises, according to the Refill initiative, run by an organisation called City to Sea, founded in 2015 by the environmental campaigner Natalie Fee.

Then along came Covid and reusables were temporarily banned on health grounds. Many people lost the habit as "on the go" morphed into "stuck at home".
