The Dark Horse Mercantile set to host a Barbour & Bourbon Night

Apr 26, 2023Apr 26, 2023

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Dark Horse Mercantile will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Saturday, June 17 with a new event, Barbour & Bourbon Night.

From 4 to 8 p.m., the Dark Horse will be hosting Old Tavern Farm Winery, offering samples of their locally made wines. A signature Bourbon drink "Longshot Lemonade" will also be served along with another surprise drink. Bourbons will be provided by Kane's Fine Wine & Spirits and Cooperstown Distillery Beverage Exchange.

Bourbon-inspired foods will also be available for tasting, including Woodford Reserve Bourbon Balls, Brie topped with Pecans and a Glaze made with Bourbon Maple from Wild Hill Maple in Salem. Co-owners Marianne Barker and Maddy Zanetti are concocting the different food selections.

"We are excited to offer this event to our loyal customers and it has been fun to work with other local businesses planning this event," Zanetti said in a press release. "It is amazing how quickly time goes; it feels like we were just introducing our mini horse Upset to the community and now people see his silhouette and know his name.

"We have a beautiful product line but the message of never giving up and overcoming the odds is such an important one that we love being able to share"

Barbour waxing specialist, Jeffrey Brown, will be doing re-waxing demos for classic rain gear. Barbour merchandise will be 15 percent off and a complimentary Barbour Glass Coffee Mug or Stainless-Steel Water Bottle will be given with purchase while supplies last.

At the close of the event, a Barbour hold-all wax cotton duffle bag and a wax cotton sports cap will be raffled off individually with no purchase necessary. Visitors can also enter to win a $100 gift card for either Impressions of Saratoga or The Dark Horse.

The Dark Horse brand launched in 2014 at Impressions of Saratoga and celebrates Saratoga's history as "The Graveyard of Champions" after horses like Man o’War, Gallant Fox, and Secretariat were beaten by "The Dark Horse"; an unknown longshot and unlikely champion. After four years of growth, the Dark Horse brand grew out of its space at Impressions and The Dark Horse Mercantile opened in June of 2018.
